What a B license actually covers

The license for a whole house, not one trade

Most licenses you will run into cover a single trade. A B is different. It is the one the state issues for putting up or remodeling a structure, where more than two trades have to be organized and one person has to answer for all of them.

Whole houses

Built from the slab up

One of his customers describes the job as “giving us our dream home”. That is the scale a B license is written for, and the scale that needs a single person accountable for every trade on the site.

Additions & remodels

Meeting a house that already exists

The harder half of the work. An addition has to meet a building that is already standing, already settled, and rarely square, and it has to look like it was always there.

The record carries no additional status line, no suspensions, no bond cancellation date and no disclosable complaints. The bond was filed in January 2026. The license number has been held since December 2001 and was reissued in January 2005 when the business incorporated, so the license is older than the corporation. There is no workers’ compensation policy listed and none is required: the license is registered as exempt on the grounds that there are no employees, certified to the board in January 2025. That is the honest shape of a one-man contractor, and it is why nothing on this page claims a crew.

A note from the person who built this

Why this page exists

Rob, you don’t know me. I’m Matthew, and I build websites for contractors on the Central Coast. I built this one before asking, because it is easier to look at a real page than to listen to a pitch.

Here is what I noticed, and it is the whole reason I picked you. Where the website goes on your Google listing, it says “Add website”. Underneath that, it still says “Claim this business”, which means nobody has ever taken ownership of it. So the only thing on the internet with your name on it is a page you do not control, and it is the first thing a homeowner finds.

Claim it either way. That part is free, it takes about ten minutes, and it is worth doing whether or not you ever reply to me. An unclaimed listing can be edited by strangers.

I’ll be straight about what this page does not have. There is not a single photograph on your listing, so there is not a single photograph here. I am not going to fill a page for a builder with stock pictures of somebody else’s houses. It is built out of the two things you do have, which are your license record and what your customers wrote, and the colors are chosen rather than pulled from your own material, because there is no material to pull from. Photographs of your own finished work are the single biggest thing missing, and they would change this page more than anything else I could do to it.

Everything here came from public sources: your record from the state and your reviews. Nothing is stock and nothing is invented. If a detail is wrong, it is wrong because I read it wrong, and I’d want to know.

$950 flat if you want it, live in about a week on your own domain, and you own everything: the domain, the files, all of it. If it is not for you I will take it down, no hard feelings.
